This is going be a very important article that is going to help you determine what is your target weight that you should aim to be. What is that weight you want to be at your height. That movie star physique, the physique that looks good at you, the physique that is most attractive towards women. So, let’s jump in now.

**How to define your most attractive weight**

If you get this wrong you could have muscle but look off or you could be really lean but no one’s gonna really care. You’re going to slip through the crack. So, there’s really a formula of how much you should weigh based on your height.

**Is BMI helpful?**

Now, funny enough we’ve all heard about the BMI calculator okay and most people in Fitness call it useless. It doesn’t measure muscle. You know you could have two people with the same BMI one looks great one looks bad. But in the context of body fat, the BMI can actually be quite useful.

For example, you could have a guy that has so much muscle and has a 30 BMI that’s relatively lean. But even carrying that much weight, that much size isn’t even conducive for health. You could have someone that’s very lean but their BMI is very low and it’s not going to be really the most attractive.

**The Sweet Spot**

Based on the research men want to be around a 24 to 26 BMI That’s The Sweet Spot. That’s when you’re going to look the best. Now to give you a perspective I’m 5’10 and so for me that’s somewhere around you know 170 to 180 pounds. Somewhere around there that’s really The Sweet Spot that’s where I’m going to look best. And funny enough if I look back over the last six years that’s really where I’ve been. You know the 24 would be like a 168 you know and 26 BMI would be in 182.

I actually put together a really cool guide through which you can actually plug in your height and weight and you can actually find out what’s your BMI right now. Then aim where do you want to be. Because you know you can have a guy that’s lean that gets down to 70 body fat, but if he’s 5 ‘10 he’s never going to get the attention he wants. He’s never going to have the look that he wants. Because he needs to put on some muscle.

This is really helpful. If you’re a taller guy you can really find out, what is that Target BMI now I really find that like the 25 BMI is really perfect. I think 26 is on the higher end when I’m like 175, 176 that’s definitely when I look my sharpest right now I’m about 179, 180 so I’m actually trimming down closer to that 25 BMI which I find is really where you get that perfect mix of of size and definition. There’s a lot of guys that think they have to get way bigger than they are. They’re six feet, they need to be 210 pounds. That’s completely wrong, at six foot 185-190 is really good. So I recommend finding out what is your BMI right now. Do you have fat to lose? Do you need to gain muscle? And what’s that BMI at a 24 or 25? And if you want to get very specific the 24 BMI is really that Warrior physique. A bit more of that leaner tighter physique which is the Warrior look. Think about like Brad Pitt or Daniel Craig. Some of the guys with a little bit more muscle. You want that Superhero look so you determine what your goal is and again the really the most important thing of course is that you want to achieve these BMIs while being lean.

**Waist with respect to Height**

With this lean dexa score or recommend just getting a tape measure your waist around belly button and ideally you want to have your waist about 45 of your height. If you’re six foot you want to get your waist to about 32 and a half. While being in that BMI sweet spot or if you’re 5’10 you’re going to really want to get to 31 and a half. Even if you want to go half an inch lower you can get to the 31 inch waist. If you can actually get your waist dialed and be in that 24 to 26 BMI that’s going to look incredible. Everything’s gonna fall into place.

**Attractive Men vs Attractive Women**

I see a lot of guys that go too high in the weight or they’re too low and they’re outside of that range. It’s been shown that women find that 24 to 26 BMI the most attractive and for men we actually find a woman with a 18 to 20 BMI as actually the most attractive. Hopefully this was helpful for you.

**What is Ideal body weight**

Our ideal body weight which is also something referred to as IBW predicted body weight or PBW as the name suggests the ideal or expected weight for someone given their height and gender.

**Initial concept**

The concept was initially introduced by Ben Devine in 1974. Now the ideal body weight may and often does differ from the person’s actual or total body weight when we actually weigh them. Especially in the United States as well as many other places around the world, the average person is actually larger than what we would expect. So a person’s composition of that and muscle has a different influence based on the proportions of each. It was found that some medications metabolism was related more to a person’s ideal body weight than their actual body weight. In addition men when we’re comparing them to women of the same height are generally a little bit larger. This is something that we also have to account for. In the context of lungs size, a person’s lung size doesn’t change despite their total body weight. So for two people of the same height but different weights, we would actually expect their lungs to be approximately the same size. What this means especially for our lung protective ventilation as well as the use of some medications that we need to calculate our patients ideal body weight and then use that number instead to ensure safety for them. So, let’s go and talk about how it is that we calculate it.

**Calculation of Ideal body Weight**

There are actually many different methods to calculating this but the most popular one is actually the divine formula for adults. We have two different slightly different calculations for both men and women. For men we’re going to start with 50 kilograms or 110 pounds to that we’re going to add 0.9 kilograms or 2 pounds times their height in centimeters minus 152. For women we’re basically just beginning with a slightly different starting number. So we’re going to begin with 45.5 kilograms or 100 pounds again plus 0.9 kilograms or 2 pounds times their height minus 152. Now fortunately we actually have charts of these calculated out so you don’t actually have to do this calculation as well as most charting systems will automatically determine what our person’s idle body weight is. But it is helpful to kind of understand how we got to these numbers. Let’s go through just a couple of quick examples here just to help cement the calculation in here.

First, we’re going to take a man who is six foot tall and figure out what his ideal body weight would be. So, six foot is equal to 72 inches which is equal to 182 centimeters. If we’re working with kilograms here we’ll take 50 kilograms plus 0.9 times 182 minus 152 or if we’re working in pounds we do 110 plus 2 times the difference of 182 minus 152. We know here in kilograms we would be doing 0.9 times 30 which gives us 50 plus 27 which equals 77 kilograms. this would be our ideal body weight if we were continuing in pounds we’d have 110 plus 2 times 30 which equals 110 plus 60 giving us 170 pounds of ideal body weight.

**Example, Women**

Let’s take a woman who is 5 foot 5 inches so 5 foot 5 inches is 65 inches which equals 165 centimeters. Here we’re going to be starting with a different beginning number. We’re going to take 45.5 kilograms plus 0.9 kilograms times 165 minus 152. in pounds that would be a hundred pounds plus two times 165 minus 152. so we know that difference is 13 so on the kilogram side we’d have 45.5 plus 0.9 times 13 which gives us 11.7 adding that to 45.5 gives us 57.2 kilograms of ideal body weight again. If we’re doing this in pounds we’d have 100 pounds plus 2 times 13 which gives us 100 pounds plus 26 or 126 pounds of ideal body weight. So, again pretty easy calculation and oftentimes we’ll just plug in what their height is and we’ve already got it figured out what their actual ideal body weight is.
